Website, Social Media and Non-Profit Sector

Website, Social Media and Non-Profit Sector
Welcome to Social Media Statistics

By Gary Davies
The use of Internet media and social media by nonprofit organizations is likely to increase. Nonprofit organizations from around the world became aware of the benefits of the internet. Many organizations see the Internet as an easy revenue for the fund-raising through the website, Facebook, and Twitter, or other social media that reaches hundreds of

There are two types of social media networks: In-house and commercial. A network of in-house designed 'in-house' specifically for the use of members and supporters of nonprofit organizations or specific or rather the non-profit network of friends and relatives, school, social taupun. A commercial site is a site built and owned organistaion or corporation. Facebook and Twitter commercial network of the most widely used by nonprofit organizations, and not coincidentally, the two most popular social networking sites on the Internet. Facebook and twitter become a leader in social media tools for the company, besides still considered safe also has superb facilities such as facebook pages that accommodate more like friends and

The advantage of using non-Facebook in conjunction with the website grows. Facebook is a social networking site's most commercially used by nonprofit organizations. 86% of non-responding advantage of Social Networking Nonprofit Survey, conducted by the Nonprofit Technology Network, uses Facebook to traffic fundraising, awareness and driving to their own web sites. Especially for Internet users in the world such as Indonesia's largest social media tools certainly like facebook and twitter to be a trend setter in making the Issues, a new nonprofit organization that lists each day, which is actually bad news for those that were using Facebook. It is reported that the groups and fan pages actually have seen a decline in the number of members over the last year. Still as a marketing platform Facebook provides access to 400 million members worldwide and has created a page dedicated resources to help nonprofit organizations use this site.

Twitter is a social networking site with the greatest increase in users of non-profit. The average number of followers grew from 286 in 2009 to 1792 followers in 2010, that increased 627%. 60% of nonprofit organizations from the same survey using Twitter, many in conjunction with Facebook to increase their support base.

So what exactly is a nonprofit hopes to get out of using the internet?
Twitter, Facebook and Blogs help to open up a nonprofit organization, shows the public what it takes to carry out the work they do and their need for support.
Social networks and professional networks can help smaller nonprofits connect with others in their industry.
Promotional events and campaigns.
Fundraising and maintaining donor connection.
Looking for volunteers, employees, and supporters from abroad and other sectors of society.

Nonprofit organization that seems most pleased with the results of their use of social media and sites are also non-profit organization committed the most resources, time and staff. This shows that despite the belief that the Internet is easy fundraising, some of the skills and resources necessary to make use of social media and the Internet. It seems that designing a web page and create a Facebook page is not enough to produce a good web marketing. 84.9% of survey respondents for Social Networking Nonprofit Survey reportedly employs only one quarter of full-time staff member to the internet and social marketing.

No, You Don't Need to Spend All Day on Twitter By Anthony Idem

Over the last few years, Twitter has emerged as social media's new darling. (Although they prefer that you don't call them a social network) Many businesses have already adopted it into their "marketing" efforts. Sadly, when it comes to using tools such as Twitter, most business owners are hopelessly clueless.
One of the most common misconceptions about using Twitter is that it will take them all day long to monitor and engage with Twitter followers and keep up with all the tweeting. This is not necessarily true. You DO need to spend some time to on Twitter to get the most out of it but, if done right, it should not take up more that fifteen to twenty minutes of your day.
In order to have success you need to think like a human being. This is key because oftentimes in dealing with our customers or potential customers, the we see them more as dollar signs. Think about how much business can suffer when you view things out of this lens. You are no longer really concerned with the quality of the experience of your audience.
Make sure that you are being a human being first. Again, do not neglect the 'social' in social media. Take time to share interesting and useful information that your target audience would find useful. Direct your followers toward your blog posts. (This can also help you to establish a following to your blog. Make sure you get yourself a blog if you have not already done so).
Make sure you interact with the people who you find interesting or people who follow you or respond to your tweets. Build some relationships. It may take you out of your comfort zone but that is a good thing. Learn to interact with others and watch your network grow.
Here are 5 Twitter tips that are on point to help you do all of the above in 15 minutes a day or less.
1) Network with one person a day on Twitter
This is easy. Just say hello. Respond to a Tweet. Comment on a blog post that they have shared. This helps with the relationship building portion of tweeting.
2) ReTweet great content
When someone shares something that resonates with you, share it with the rest of your followers. You will be surprised to see how often people will do the same thing with you and your content.
3) Use Follow Friday
Every Friday you may see tweets that look like this #FF or #FollowFriday. This has become a ritual on Twitter where people will recognize people who they follow that bring value to them in some way. They are basically letting the world know that they also should be following that person as well. It seems like a little thing but it is actually a pretty nice gesture that is often reciprocated.
4) Always show gratitude
This one is self explanatory
5) Always follow your fans
Again, reciprocation is a good thing! Follow the people who follow you. Also, look for the people who comment on your blogs and send you emails.
These are some pretty easy steps to ensure that you don't spend your entire day on Twitter. Take them to heart and watch your circle of friends and influence rise.

TweetDeck For Twitter - Some Strategies For This Powerful, Free Twitter App By Daniel Swindells

When I first started out on Twitter I was overwhelmed by the quantity of apps available, and while I still feel this way sometimes, it gave me far less headaches when I realised that the majority of all Twitter activity can be handled with two clients.

One to handle auto-tweets, auto-DMs, all the automatic operations to grow an account quickly, for this I use Tweet Adder (reviewed on my blog). The other main Twitter client is used to handle the personal interactions with the community, the replies, the retweets, the non-automated DMs. If you're not using the free software Tweet Deck for this, you're missing out on an opportunity to save a lot of headaches!

In this review, I'll be explaining Tweet Decks features with reference to the previous client I used instead, and discussing a couple of tactics I've been using effectively to build targeted followers for my E-marketing campaigns.

Tweet Deck vs. my previous client Twirl

I used Twirl before I found Tweet Deck, both are free, both have similar fundamental features, but right from the get-go it was clear that Tweet Deck was a lot better.

Firstly, look at how much better the appearance of Tweet Deck is. You can view multiple columns at once, not just showing the basics, your DMs and mentions, but for the time-line of hashtags, or lists you've created.

The biggest weakness of Twirl by comparison is that you can't select your categories. Two such categories show the time-line for your friends or followers, but this is pretty redundant for most marketers because of how many followers and friends get added. Most of us aren't going to randomly browse through thousands upon thousands of tweets. This is where Tweet Deck shines, because you can view the time-line of your lists.

'#Worldcup where buy merchandise -www -com -http -https'

Another useful tactic that works for Tweet Deck and not Twirl is loading hashtag groups, and this opens up a whole new level of utility for clients like this. One use of this is to scan trending groups for a particular field relevant to your marketing. So for example, people affiliate marketing #Worldcup merchandise were using this tactic recently to tap into large quantities of potential buyers. The real genius of the client is that you can select combinations of hashtag groups and words. So that marketer could have had a column for '#Worldcup where buy merchandise -www -com -http -https'. By removing the posts with links in, a vast proportion of the competition is removed, and that marketer can then @ people individually to suggest where to buy products.

This can be quite time consuming, and I'm told of products like Tweetomatic profiteer that will automate the process of @mentions to potential buyers. I'm also told of a lot of problems with this software.

Following back

Whether or not to follow back is a bit of a grey area, a personal preference. If you do this, you can add 'I followback' to your bio, encouraging people to follow you, and adding to the number of searches in Twitter directories such as Twello that find your profile.

If you follow back, you can use Tweet Deck to add groups such as #followback and #ifollowback to. People that follow back offer a great way to build your numbers fast.

Some marketers will frown on this because the users aren't targeted to a particular niche, and I accept this, which is why wether or not you try this should depend on the type of accounts you use. If the information has general appeal to social media users, you might find some customers this way.

If you're not happy with Tweet Deck, it's a lot more configurable than Twirl, special mention has to go to the specific set up options for using your Twitter API. Remember that the more columns you use, the more API you use up, so if like me, you like to leave 7 or 8 columns open, reduce these quantities here at the cost of slightly slower updates.

Conclusion

It really is amazing what you can get for free, Tweet Deck can do everything that Twirl can do and a lot more. The most important feature of all is the ability to combine hashtag group and individual word searches, and if you can harness this properly, you'll be laughing all the way to the bank.

I intend to have articles on all parts of the Twitter functionality soon, hashtags, direct messages etc...I'm also adding Twitter app reviews. I update that blog daily so keep it in mind.

Popular Shorten URL Tools to Utilize in Social Network Updates Or Tweets By Shirley Lee

Why would anyone want to shorten a URL for hyperlinks when it is so easy to copy and paste URLs into documents and on-line fields? Think of short URLs as an alias or nickname for a longer URL. Both URLs go to the same website with the same speed, but one requires less characters so typing or copy/pasting requires less effort. Short URLs are helpful for updates on social network sites like Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter, where users are given a small number of characters to provide updates on what they are doing or are interested in. Most shorten URL tools are free and only require an account for additional data. Short URLs can be used to promote a blog, send interesting on-line articles, and provide easy access to photos or videos on any website.
bit.ly is one of the best known URL shorten tool since it is what Twitter originally used to automatically shorten long hyperlinks and is the type of link created by "Add This" social buttons on blogs and article sites. Although Twitter no long automatically shortens links for users, bit-ly is still popular because it allows tracking statistics of their short link use. No matter which social network tool the link is used in, it will return the number of clicks for the link and display it on the computer where the link was originally made for a short time on a user without an account. Users who have set-up an account can get a longer-period history and see reports from any computer by logging into their account. To make a short link, simply enter the longer URL in the field marked and click the Shorten button. After the new link is displayed, move onto it and a copy to clipboard feature will appear to save a copy to be pasted into social network text fields. To learn more, a tour feature is available at the bottom of the bit.ly home page. The tour is a series of information pages on features to shorten, share, track, and manage links as well as advanced tools. All tour options display related screen captures.
Cli.gs creates very short URLs that are used by a few blog feed applications to automate sending post updates to Twitter accounts. However, a blog is not required to use Cligs to create short URLs without an account. Cligs also offers analytics and application programming interfaces (API) for users who set-up an account.
is.gd is good because it has a quick link compress tool without a lot of other options on the home page which may confuse new users. However, a neat feature of this short URL service is the ability to copy its links and then place a dash (-) at the end of their short URL to get preview information on the linked webpage before clicking to actually go to that site. This may prevent visiting sites that automatically start code, audio, or video on a site that is not desired. The description page for is.gd also gives a good list of options to consider for using short URLS. Go to the instructions page to find out how to use this tool in different platforms or the technical page for API details.
TinyURL.com is another popular shorten URL tool used across many social networks, although it refers to itself as an email tool. It allows custom URL creation as well as random links without an account. It currently does not provide any type of statistics on URL use, but check out the options it does provide on the home page.
TwitPwr.com is a popular shorten URL tool used in Tweets because it set-ups a user account based on a current Twitter name. Merely enter the long URL in the field and a Twitter name in the field and click Shorten. The short link will appear to copy/paste into Tweets. If a custom short URL is desired, click on the advanced option to create it. The home page also displays the top Twitter accounts using the tool and the most clicked links on Twitter which may cut down on personal search time in Twitter. To see personal information for an account, click on the TwitPWR Profile Link to see last 20 tweets from Twitter or TwitPWR URL Info link to see a traffic report and link-backs to original long URL. Read the About page on TwitPwr for more information.
Other applications for making using the internet or social networks easier may include a shorten URL utility the user sets or is automatically created. Some to check out include HooteSuite (ow.ly), FriendFeed (ff.im), and StumbleUpon (su.pr ). Most will have the utility on the home page for logged in accounts. If not, check their Help, FAQ, or About option of the application to see if it includes this utility or recommends using another tool.
It is very likely that everyone on Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter has seen short URLs in received updates and clicked on the link because it cam from a trusted source. Check out the shorten URL option that sounds best for networking or other linking needs and start using shorter URLs too! It may make socializing via the web so much easier.
