Forget About Social Media - Here's What to Do Instead For More Prospects & Profits (Simple & Easy)
By Jeff Herring Forget about Social Media.
There, I said it.
And I mean it. If you market online that is.
If all you want to use Social Media for is to connect with friends and get your "15 minutes of fame" each day, then focus on Social Media.
What to do instead
However, if you are an online marketer, (which you are if you have an online presence) then what you want to do is forget about Social Media and focus instead on Social Marketing.
Social Media vs. Social Marketing
Media allows you to have a presence on many Social platforms. Think of it as having lots of billboards with your name on it. I guess that might feel good, a boost to the ego if you will, but it does not effect your bank account.
Marketing allows you to focus on getting your message out so that people can benefit from your products and services.
You see, I have this crazy belief that if you have a message inside of you that can make a positive difference and impact on someone else's life, that not only do you have a right to get it out there to the world, you actually have an obligation to do so.
And it has never been easier than it is now.
Internet Marketing "Billboards"
The difference between Social Media and Social Marketing is that in Social Media you are just having a presence on different platforms with your words and picture, while with Marketing you are actually asking the viewer to take some kind of action based on what you are saying.
So think of the Social Marketing platforms as billboards that people notice and focus on as they travel down the internet information market highway.
When you think of it in this way, you'll what to have as many of these billboards erected and working for you 24/7 as you possibly can.
Social Marketing Sign Posts
I call these internet billboards "Sign Posts." This is a great way to get found and let people know what you have to offer that can make a difference in their lives. So every post or update on Twitter or Facebook, every new video on YouTube, and every new blog post is another way you can get your message in front of where the traffic is going and then redirect the traffic exactly where you want it to go.
